Family Promise Host Church Training

Even if you have volunteered with Family Promise in the past, the opening of Promise Haven brings new opportunities to serve and with it, new procedures and information to learn. St. Matthew’s will have training and support materials for volunteers in the days ahead. All volunteers should start with Family Promise 101 and 102 Training online. These modules take about 1 hour to complete and you do not need to do it all at one sitting. Register to access these courses at https://family-promise.coassemble.com/unlock/qMMJs2B#/

Safe Church Training

Hospitality host and overnight positions will require that you have completed Safeguarding or similar training within the past 3 years.

The Diocese is offering volunteers the opportunity to take the Praesidium Academy online module called “Keeping Your Church Safe” if you have not had Safeguarding. Please sign up for your selected shift by 3/7 if you need this training so that you can be registered to access this online course.

Background Checks

Hospitality and Overnight Hosts are required to pass a background check provided by Family Promise of Gwinnett. Click here for background check form

What is Family Promise?

Family Promise of Gwinnett County, Inc. brings existing local resources together to help homeless children and their families regain their housing and their independence, while maintaining their dignity. We mobilize congregations of faith, community volunteers, and social service agencies. Through intensive case management and counseling, we address the underlying causes of homelessness. Together we are ending homelessness – one family at a time.

The Promise Haven Story

Promise Haven, a home provided by a local Lawrenceville church, brings the churches and community together to serve and to find rewarding, heart-warming volunteer opportunities in almost every area. A volunteer can be part of our fellowship team, our mentoring team, our meal team, our maintenance and facilities team, and more. It’s a place to use your skills to teach and engage others.

Ajaray, a graduate of Family Promise of Brevard in Rockledge, FL, talks about her experience with homelessness, interacting with our volunteers, and how Family Promise of Brevard helped her turn her life around.

At St. Matthew’s, our MISSION is to continue the Incarnation of our Lord Jesus Christ, by serving the greater community through loving its children, caring for the unfortunate and witnessing to the healing power of God’s love.
